Job description
Akkodis is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer for a Contract position with a client located in Glendale, CA/ San Francisco, CA/ Seattle, WA/ Santa Monica, CA., We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a strong background in Data Engineering and large-scale distributed systems to join a high-impact engineering organization building modern data platforms and real-time processing solutions.
This role will focus on developing scalable batch and streaming data pipelines, driving architecture decisions, and building production-grade data systems.
What You'll Do:
? Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for batch and real-time processing
? Build and optimize distributed data systems handling large-scale datasets
? Participate in system design and architecture discussions
? Own the software development lifecycle from design through deployment
? Improve performance, reliability, testing, and scalability of data platforms
? Collaborate with engineering, product, and cross-functional teams
? Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to engineering best practices
Requirements
? 5+ years of software engineering experience
? Strong hands-on experience with Apache Spark and distributed data processing
? Experience building both batch and streaming pipelines
? Experience with Spark Streaming, Kafka, Flink, Kinesis, or similar technologies
? Programming experience with Scala, Python, Java, or similar languages
? Experience with AWS and modern data engineering ecosystems
? Strong understanding of distributed systems, data modeling, and scalable architecture
? Experience participating in technical design and architecture discussions
Preferred Experience:
? Databricks
? Airflow
? Snowflake
? Kubernetes / Terraform / Cloud Infrastructure
? Microservices (Spring Boot, FastAPI, NestJS)
? Data governance, observability, or GenAI exposure
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Benefits & conditions
