Job description
As a Backend Architect, you will be the senior-most hands-on backend engineer responsible for architecting and delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems powering a unified AI-enabled application platform.
You will lead the design and development of backend services, APIs, data systems, and integrations that enable workflow orchestration, collaboration, and intelligent decision-making capabilities across the platform.
The platform consolidates fragmented workflows into a centralized system of record, supporting modules such as scorecards, evaluations, collaboration workflows, and artifact management.
You will also drive deep integration with enterprise systems, data pipelines, analytics platforms, and external data artifacts, enabling seamless interaction across structured and unstructured data sources
You will leverage Claude AI extensively as an engineering productivity accelerator for backend development, enabling faster delivery, improved code quality, and efficient system design
This is a pure individual contributor architect role, with ~70 75% hands-on engineering across system design, backend development, API construction, and distributed systems implementation., * Architect and build scalable backend systems and microservices that power workflow-driven, AI-enabled application experiences
- Design and implement API-first architectures (REST/GraphQL/event-driven) supporting modular, extensible platform capabilities
- Build systems enabling collaboration workflows, evaluation pipelines, and artifact generation/storage
- Develop a centralized system of record for structured data and domain-specific workflows
- Integrate backend services with enterprise systems, analytics platforms, and data pipelines

- Design and implement scalable, cloud-native backend architectures leveraging Azure services-including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, and Azure App Services-to build resilient, event-driven, and high-performance application platforms.
- Implement security, governance, and compliance controls, including safeguards for restricted attributes and enterprise policy alignment
- Design and build systems for handling uploaded artifacts, external datasets, and document processing pipelines
- Leverage Claude AI extensively for backend engineering acceleration, debugging, system design, and documentation.
- Establish and scale AI-assisted backend engineering practices to improve development, velocity and quality.
- Own backend architecture decisions, ensuring scalability, resiliency, performance, and maintainability

In this role, you will lead the design and development of both frontend and backend layers-building the application shell, user interface, and supporting services that power complex workflows, collaboration experiences, and structured evaluation processes. You will also drive integration with enterprise systems, data pipelines, and analytics platforms, enabling seamless interaction across structured and unstructured data sources.
You will leverage Claude AI extensively as an engineering productivity accelerator-driving faster delivery, improving development efficiency, and enabling high-quality code, system design, and documentation. Claude will be a core part of your daily engineering workflow (coding, debugging, UI development, backend services, integrations, and documentation acceleration), but not a runtime dependency of the application architecture.
This is a pure individual contributor architect role with ownership across the full technology stack-from user experience to backend services and integrations. Approximately 70 75% of your time will be hands-on coding, system design, and full stack engineering, with the remainder focused on collaboration with product and stakeholder teams to ensure successful delivery of a high-quality, enterprise-grade platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and build the end-to-end full stack platform that unifies fragmented workflows into a centralized, scalable, and AI-enabled application experience.
- Design and implement frontend and backend components, including application shell, UI layers, APIs, and supporting services, ensuring performance, scalability, and production readiness.
- Develop and integrate workflow-driven modules such as collaboration interfaces, structured evaluation forms, and exportable artifacts for downstream usage and reuse.
- Build and manage integrations with enterprise systems, data pipelines, analytics platforms, and external data artifacts, enabling seamless interaction across structured and unstructured data sources.
- Design and implement systems that support AI-assisted workflows, enabling enriched user interactions, intelligent recommendations, and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
- Leverage Claude AI extensively as an engineering productivity accelerator-driving faster GTM through rapid prototyping, full stack development, debugging, and system design acceleration.
- Establish and scale Claude-driven development practices to enhance developer productivity, reduce delivery cycles, and improve code quality across the engineering lifecycle.
- Own full stack technical design and architecture, translating product and workflow requirements into robust, scalable, and maintainable implementations.
- Operate as a highly hands-on individual contributor, actively participating in coding, design reviews, and day-to-day engineering execution within an embedded team model.
- Ensure high engineering standards across the stack, including code quality, modular architecture, testing rigor, usability, and long-term maintainability.
- Drive execution discipline and delivery outcomes, ensuring the platform is production-grade, scalable, and aligned with rapid iteration needs enabled by AI-assisted development.
Requirements

- Strong knowledge of data modeling, persistence, and database systems (SQL/NoSQL)

Cloud & Platform Engineering (Required - Primary Focus Area)
