Job description
Helps manage, maintain and promote the ESRI geographic information systems (GIS) for the Morgantown Utility Board (MUB). Provides professional support working in such areas as research, design, development, testing, process improvement, project management, specification development, construction or related engineering fields.
- Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive GIS databases using ArcGIS, SQL, and relational database management systems
- Conduct surveying activities, utilizing GPS technology to collect precise geospatial data for project planning and analysis
- Create detailed maps and visualizations using GIS tools and data visualization techniques to communicate complex spatial information clearly
- Write scripts in Python, JavaScript, or other scripting languages to automate workflows, enhance data collection processes, and develop custom GIS applications
- Collaborate with project teams on construction and infrastructure projects by providing spatial analysis support.
- Manage data collection efforts across various GPS devices; ensure data accuracy and integrity throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality spatial datasets while adhering to project deadlines
- Help develop and maintain GIS training for data entry professionals and field users
- Support operational departments in development and usage of utility system models
- Assist with the aerial mapping, cleanups, updates, and general maintenance
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Windows?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Must have a current, valid driver's license
- Formal GIS degree/certification/training required; bachelor's degree with a focus on GIS preferred
- This is an entry level position having 0-5 years of experience using and administering ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal/Online
- Must be PC literate and have working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must have experience with GPS technology and data collection methods in construction or infrastructure environments
- Knowledge of and ability to perform GIS analysis and database manipulations, preferred
- Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server, preferred
- Must be physically capable of performing fieldwork in all weather conditions, which would include but not limited to walking, climbing, driving stakes, lifting, and digging, * GIS degree/certification/training
- Bachelor's degree with a focus on GIS
- Experience with GPS technology and data collection methods in construction or infrastructure environments
- Knowledge of and the ability to perform GIS analysis and database manipulations
- PC literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server
