Job description

Employees in this role develop and maintain the front-end (client-side) of an application-typically a web application, but sometimes mobile or mobile-friendly responsive applications. They are responsible for designing and implementing the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX). Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with customers to deeply understand their use cases, pain points, and requirements, demonstrating empathy and advocating for user-centric software solutions
  • Solve complex problems by designing, developing, and delivering solutions using various tools, languages, frameworks, and technologies
  • Align with architecture guidelines to ensure a unified and coherent development approach
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product owners, designers, back-end developers, and architects
  • Create mock-ups and prototypes to visualize new features; participate in UI design reviews and product demos
  • Perform functional automated testing and UI testing to ensure high-quality development
  • Continuously improve performance by fixing bugs, optimizing applications, and implementing new technologies to maximize efficiency
  • Apply programming best practices, including cross-browser compatibility testing, SEO principles, and accessibility standards
  • Design, develop, and deliver user-friendly, interactive experiences using enterprise brand standards and templates for a consistent UX (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as React and Angular)
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in UI design

Role Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Software Engineer with a focus on front-end development for the Connectivity Platform.

You will collaborate with Software Engineers, Designers, and Product Managers to deliver critical new features and capabilities supporting connected device applications and APIs. The front-end team works closely with backend teams to meet user needs and support backend application interfaces.

The Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and ongoing support/maintenance of applications and services., What You'll Do

  • Product & Requirements Management:
  • Participate in and/or lead development of requirements, features, user stories, use cases, and test cases
  • Participate in stand-up operations meetings
  • Documentation:
  • Author process, technical design, and support documents
  • Design / Develop / Test / Deploy:
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on solution design, development, and deployment
  • Incident / Problem / Change / Service Requests:
  • Participate in or lead activities related to incidents, problems, change, and service requests
  • Conduct root cause analysis
  • Support proactive problem management and defect prevention
  • Partner with team and product managers to design solutions and break them into incremental, production-ready user stories
  • Use AI to deliver improved user applications with higher quality and faster delivery timelines
  • Participate in on-call rotations for feature support
  • Deliver products that include React frontends and Spring/Cloud services that support customers
  • Utilize DevOps tools such as SonarQube, FOSSA, and GitHub to deploy, improve, and manage software

Even Better, You May Have...

  • Experience with RESTful interfaces and OAS standards
  • Experience with GraphQL in addition to REST
  • Comfort with CI/CD tools and pipelines
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform or other cloud providers (AWS or Azure)
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace
  • Experience with React ecosystem tools, including:
  • Redux
  • Context
  • React Router
  • Testing with Jest / React Testing Library
  • Vite
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems or component libraries (e.g., Figma)
  • Experience with React class components and lifecycle methods, as well as modern functional components and hooks

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in React (React.js / ReactJS), a front-end UI library for building web pages
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience developing front-end applications using React

Skills Preferred

  • REST APIs:
  • Strong experience interfacing with REST APIs, including reading API documentation and creating requests to populate web page data
  • Minimum 1+ year working with REST APIs, * Engineer 3 level
  • Practical experience in 2 coding languages OR advanced proficiency in 1 language
  • 6+ years of IT experience
  • 4+ years of development experience

Experience Preferred

  • 3+ years using React
  • 1+ years using Spring
  • 1+ years using CI/CD and GitHub
  • GraphQL
  • Figma
  • Google Cloud Platform

Education Required

  • Bachelor's Degree
