Job description
- Develop and maintain Oracle APEX applications within the MEDIAAN platform for the Flemish Government (Department of Mobility and Public Works).
- Design, implement, and optimize PL/SQL backend logic supporting cost and price data management for public infrastructure procurement.
- Extend APEX functionality using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to improve usability and user experience.
- Work on AI-assisted features using Python and Azure OpenAI for automated data extraction and processing.
- Perform coding, testing, debugging, and maintenance tasks independently when required.
- Contribute to UI/UX improvements of applications to ensure usability and performance.
- Develop and maintain reporting functionalities, including APEX Office Print (AOP) integration.
- Collaborate closely with an APEX developer, Oracle DBA, analyst/technical lead, and business stakeholders.
- Participate in Agile development processes including sprint planning, reviews, and iterative delivery.
- Support integration of AI and automation capabilities within existing Oracle APEX solutions.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Oracle APEX application development.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL programming.
- Proven experience in JavaScript for extending APEX functionality.
- Experience in designing and developing user-friendly applications with strong UX/UI focus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small Agile team.
- Strong coding, debugging, and testing skills.
- Fluent Dutch (C2 level - mandatory).
- Experience working with government or public sector projects is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies is required.
- Experience with APEX Office Print (AOP) is an advantage.
- Experience with HTML and CSS for UI customization is a plus.
- Affinity with AI-assisted development and prompt engineering is a plus.
- Interest in public procurement, infrastructure projects, or cost engineering is a plus.
