Job description

  • Develop and deploy computational methodologies integrating machine learning and optimization techniques.
  • Provide technical leadership within collaborative European and industrial research projects.
  • Actively participate in research dissemination through publications, conferences, and project meetings.
  • Mentor junior researchers and contribute to the academic environment of BSC.

Requirements

  • Education: Doctoral Degree in Aerospace Engineering or a similar related field, supported by a strong record of research and professional achievements.
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience:
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in aeroelasticity and/or Multidisciplinary Design Analysis and Optimization (MDAO).
  • Demonstrated leadership in MDAO and aeroelasticity within European and national research initiatives, as well as private sector projects funded by major national and international aerospace companies.
  • Established track record of scientific dissemination through publications in high-impact aerospace journals and regular participation in international conferences, including as an invited or keynote speaker.
  • Proven expertise in the development of MDAO and aeroelastic tools aligned with state-of-the-art methodologies and standards.
  • Significant experience in aircraft design with a focus on MDAO and aeroelastic integration.
  • Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience:
  • Strong academic engagement, with experience delivering lectures or courses on MDAO, aircraft design, and/or aeroelasticity.
  • Proficiency in Fortran or C/C++ is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated contribution to knowledge transfer in the aerospace sector, including through patented innovations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing automated workflows that connect parametric geometry definitions to disciplinary solvers, leveraging geometric kernels and mesh generation tools.
  • Proven experience in designing software capable of computing sensitivities using advanced techniques such as adjoint methods and algorithmic differentiation and integrating these capabilities into multidisciplinary optimization frameworks.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
