How you'll spend your day
You'll play a key role in supporting and enhancing a business-critical cloud platform, helping to ensure systems remain secure, resilient and highly available. Working alongside engineering, security and support teams, you'll contribute to platform operations, incident management and continuous service improvement across a modern Microsoft technology estate.
You'll be responsible for:

Supporting the day-to-day administration of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environments.

Monitoring platform performance, availability and security, responding to incidents and resolving operational issues.

Maintaining cloud infrastructure, Windows Server environments and business-critical platforms across production and non-production environments.

Implementing security best practices, platform hardening, vulnerability remediation and security improvements.

Supporting platform maintenance activities, including patching, upgrades and planned out-of-hours deployments.

Assisting with disaster recovery exercises, resilience testing and business continuity planning.

Automating operational tasks using PowerShell and contributing to continuous improvements across platform operations.

Working closely with engineering, application support, security teams and third-party suppliers to deliver a reliable, secure service.

Supporting change, incident and problem management processes while maintaining accurate technical documentation and operational runbooks.

Contributing to the ongoing evolution of the platform through operational, security and service improvement initiatives.
Requirements
We're looking for an experienced Platform Operations Engineer with a strong background supporting Microsoft cloud environments. You'll enjoy troubleshooting complex technical issues, improving platform resilience and working collaboratively across infrastructure, engineering and security teams.
You'll ideally have:

Commercial experience supporting Microsoft Azure cloud environments.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Windows Server administration.

Experience supporting cloud-hosted infrastructure and business-critical production platforms.

A solid understanding of platform security, secure configuration and vulnerability remediation.

Experience working within ITIL or structured IT Service Management environments, including Incident, Change and Problem Management.

Hands-on experience using monitoring, alerting and service management tools.

Scripting experience using PowerShell or similar automation technologies.

Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams and third-party suppliers.
Desirable experience:

Microsoft Defender and Secure Score optimisation.

Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and platform observability tools.

SQL Server, VMware or virtualised infrastructure environments.

CIS Benchmarks, NCSC guidance or other security frameworks.

Networking, firewalls and connectivity troubleshooting.

Disaster recovery, resilience testing and business continuity planning.

Experience working within regulated or highly governed environments.
