Job description

We are seeking a highly capable and technically proficient Network Administrator to support enterprise network infrastructure operations within a government contracting environment. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and securing enterprise network environments across classified and/or mission-critical systems.

This individual will support daily network operations, resolve escalated Tier 2/Tier 3 issues, maintain secure connectivity, monitor infrastructure health, and ensure reliable network performance across LAN/WAN/VPN environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure including LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), and VPN (Virtual Private Network) configurations to ensure seamless connectivity across all organizational sites.
  • Maintain and support network hardware such as Cisco routers, switches, ASA firewalls, and other equipment to optimize performance and security.
  • Configure and manage network protocols including TCP/IP, OSPF (Open Shortest Path First), BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol), MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), and IPsec for secure data transmission.
  • Implement load balancer solutions to ensure high availability and efficient distribution of network traffic across servers and applications.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments using tools like Splunk, SolarWinds, PRTG, and other monitoring software to identify and mitigate security risks proactively.
  • Manage network security through firewalls such as Cisco ASA, VPNs, IDS/IPS systems, PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), LDAP authentication, SSO (Single Sign-On), SSL/TLS encryption, and system hardening practices.
  • Support system administration tasks across various operating systems including Windows Server, Linux distributions like Debian, CentOS, openSUSE, Ubuntu, BSD variants, macOS, and VMware ESXi environments.
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting languages such as Python, Bash shell scripting, PowerShell, and configuration management tools like Ansible to streamline operations.
  • Collaborate with IT teams on projects involving cloud services like AWS and Azure to extend network capabilities into virtualized environments.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support for network issues related to routing protocols, network hardware failures, VPN connectivity problems, or security breaches.
  • Assist in the development of disaster recovery plans focusing on high availability architectures with SAN (Storage Area Network) systems and VMware vSphere solutions.

Requirements

  • Active Clearance: TS/SCI or above
  • Proven experience in computer networking with a strong understanding of LAN/WAN architecture and protocols including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, NFS (Network File System), FTP/SFTP protocols.
  • Hands-on expertise with Cisco routers/switches implementation along with Cisco ISE for identity services management.
  • Knowledge of network security principles including firewall configuration (Cisco ASA), IDS/IPS deployment, encryption standards such as SSL/TLS, PKI management, and vulnerability assessment techniques.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere/ESXi and containerization concepts supporting DevOps practices.
  • Experience managing operating systems such as Windows Server environments; Linux distributions like Debian or CentOS; UNIX-based systems including BSD or Solaris; macOS; openSUSE; Ubuntu; and BSD variants.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python or Bash for automation purposes; experience with Ansible is a plus.
  • Ability to implement routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP effectively within complex network architectures.
  • Familiarity with DNS, DHCP, VLANs, NAT, and subnetting
  • Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues swiftly while maintaining clear documentation of incidents and resolutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: CompTIA Security+ or appropriate DoD 8570 certification, Cisco CCNA or CCNO
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs and RMF processes
  • Experience in classified or air-gapped environments
  • Understanding of network security principles and incident response
  • Experience with: Cisco IOS, Palo Alto, Juniper, Aruba, SolarWinds, Wireshark, Splunk
  • Ability to travel both Domestic and International
