Job description

Join Oracle Health and help build the future of acute care. We're seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead the development of next-generation Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications that transform how clinicians manage patient workflows. This is a unique opportunity to build new cloud-native capabilities for our Gen2 platform, driving strategic initiatives that will shape Oracle Health's Acute Care portfolio for years to come.

This is a highly technical leadership role for someone who enjoys building teams as much as building software. During the early stages, you'll remain hands-on with the architecture and codebase to establish technical direction, mentor engineers, and ensure strong engineering fundamentals. As the organization scales, you'll evolve into a strategic engineering leader while continuing to influence architecture, technical decisions, and engineering excellence.

We're looking for a leader who embraces AI as an engineering accelerator. You'll champion practical adoption of AI-assisted development, agentic engineering, and modern developer tooling to improve productivity, foster innovation, and help your teams build high-quality software faster.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team developing cloud-native applications for Oracle Health's Gen2 Acute Care platform, with an initial team of four engineers that will rapidly scale.
  • Design and architect modern, scalable full-stack solutions using Java, microservices, Kubernetes, distributed systems, modern UI technologies, and AI-powered capabilities.
  • Stay close to the code during the early phases of development, providing hands-on technical leadership, establishing architectural direction, and mentoring engineers through implementation.
  • Drive engineering excellence by leading architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions while promoting best practices for software design, quality, testing, security, and maintainability.
  • Guide teams through the complete software development lifecycle-from architecture and feature design through testing, deployment, production support, performance optimization, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion modern engineering practices including observability, automated testing, CI/CD, secure software development, API design, versioning, lifecycle management, and operational excellence.
  • Partner closely with Product, UX, Architecture, Clinical stakeholders, and Engineering leaders to design intuitive patient workflow experiences that improve clinician productivity and patient outcomes.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows to accelerate software delivery and encourage innovative engineering practices across the organization.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of complex production issues, driving root cause analysis, system reliability, scalability, and long-term platform health.
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders in both the United States and India while representing your organization in executive-level planning, architecture reviews, and strategic discussions.
  • Build a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous learning, and customer obsession while coaching engineers through technical growth and career development., What You'll Bring

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams while remaining technically engaged and comfortable diving into architecture, design, and code when needed.
  • Deep expertise designing distributed systems, microservices, cloud-native applications, APIs, and modern full-stack software.
  • Strong background in Java, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Demonstrated success driving software architecture, engineering quality, performance optimization, scalability, observability, and secure development practices.
  • Experience leading engineering teams through production support, operational excellence, and continuous delivery.
  • Passion for leveraging AI as an engineering productivity tool and helping teams adopt practical AI-assisted development workflows.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence engineers, product leaders, architects, and senior executives.
  • Experience building and scaling globally distributed engineering organizations.
