Job description
We're partnering with a client seeking a Director of Software Engineering to serve as a key technology leader across their retail ecosystem. This individual will play a critical role in shaping, building, and delivering software solutions that support both digital commerce and in-store experiences. This role is responsible for leading engineering efforts across eCommerce platforms, store systems, integrations, and internal tools - ensuring all solutions are scalable, secure, and reliable. The Director will bring a strong balance of strategic thinking and execution, helping modernize technology capabilities while improving overall customer and operational outcomes.
A major focus of this position is team leadership. The ideal candidate will mentor and grow high-performing engineering organizations, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation.
This leader will also work closely with cross-functional partners including: Marketing, Operations, and other business units, to align technology initiatives with broader company objectives and accelerate transformation efforts across the retail landscape.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, Master's degree preferred

10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering or technology leadership roles

Experience leading engineering teams delivering both customer-facing and operational systems

Experience in retail, multi-location environments, or transaction-based systems preferred

5+ years experience with Agile/DevOps practices and modern engineering tooling
