Job description

King County Business Resource Center (BRC) is seeking an ERP Software Developer - Principal to support and enhance enterprise Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) platforms, including OAS, OBIA, and ODI. This role provides hands-on development, system support, and optimization of ETL processes, data warehouse components, and BI reporting solutions that enable critical Finance, HR, and Procurement analytics.

Operating in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, the Technical Developer focuses on building and maintaining scalable data solutions, ensuring performance, data quality, and adherence to enterprise standards. This role works closely with analysts and technical teams to translate requirements into reliable BI solutions, support system stability, and contribute to continuous improvement of the county's analytics capabilities.

ABOUT THE BUSINESS RESOURCE CENTER

The BRC oversees King County's business systems, which include applications, infrastructure, software, and vendor relationships. The team also supports business processes, system governance, and work prioritization to effectively serve county agencies.

BRC Director's Office: This team provides guidance to the BRC and advises county leaders on strategies to enhance the county's ERP business systems. They also manage the day-to-day operations of the BRC in support of continuous improvement and a cohesive team approach to govern, manage and support the county's ERP systems.

BI Insights Team: This team specializes in developing and managing business intelligence analytics across King County's Oracle ERP and other enterprise systems. The team collaborates closely with business partners and county departments to deliver meaningful analytics and operational reporting in support of county operations. The team is committed to expanding the use of analytics tools, improving data literacy, and enhancing ERP data governance across the county.

Financials and Procurement Team: This team specializes in Oracle EBS Financials and Procurement, Oracle Procurement Cloud and Supplier Cloud, and SAP Concur travel systems. The team collaborates with our business partners and county departments to deliver finance, procurement, travel expense and treasury services across all county business operations.

HR and Payroll System Team: This team specializes in PeopleSoft HR, payroll, and retirement systems, collaborating with our business partners and county departments to deliver HR, benefits, and payroll services across all county business operations.

Shared Services Team: This team specializes in training, change management, and help desk support, along with system security, administration, and licensing. There is also a highly skilled and technical team of DBAs who manage day-to-day running and performance of the systems in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure as well as coordination of system updates and patches.

  • Maintain, monitor, and optimize enterprise Business Intelligence and data integration platforms, including Oracle Analytics Server (OAS), Oracle Business Intelligence Applications (OBIA), and Oracle Data Integrator (ODI).
  • Perform system administration and support for BI and ETL environments on Linux platforms, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, and configuration.
  • Design, develop, and support ETL processes using ODI in alignment with enterprise data architecture standards and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain Oracle Analytics dashboards, reports, and BI Publisher outputs to meet business needs.
  • Perform database analysis, SQL optimization, and load testing to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Build and maintain Oracle BI Repository (RPD) / semantic models aligned with dimensional modeling principles.
  • Support data warehouse development, including defining facts and dimensions and ensuring consistency across subject areas.
  • Execute source control, code migration, and deployment processes following established standards.
  • Conduct data profiling, validation, and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and integrity of enterprise data. '

Requirements

  • Have significant hands-on experience developing and supporting BI solutions using OBIA, OAS, and ODI.
  • Demonstrate strong expertise in data warehouse concepts, including dimensional modeling and data architecture principles.
  • Have advanced experience developing ETL processes using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI).
  • Bring deep experience working with large Oracle data sources, including Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) and PeopleSoft HCM.
  • Have experience supporting enterprise data warehouses of approximately 1TB or larger and optimizing performance for large datasets.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL for query development and performance tuning.
  • Have experience developing enterprise reporting solutions using BI Publisher, OAS, and/or Oracle Reports in a Linux environment.
  • Possess hands-on experience developing and supporting OBIA modules such as HR, Financials, Procurement & Spend, and Project Analytics.
  • Show strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex data and system issues.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Power BI, Python, Oracle APEX, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is a plus.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position is Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is not overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday.

Benefits & conditions

WORK LOCATION: The BRC BI Insights team works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is Chinook Building 401 5th Avenue Seattle, Washington, 98104.

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
