Job description

Nazareth University is seeking a Business & Web Applications Developer to support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of business, web, and AI-based applications across the University. Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Applications & Data, this role supports academic, administrative, and marketing functions through secure, accessible, and effective digital solutions., * Oversee the development, administration, and support of the University website, web and mobile applications, digital tools, and related platforms.

  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Applications Team to design and implement custom data integrations between core systems, including Colleague, Slate, and PowerFAIDS.
  • Use iPaaS, scripting languages, APIs, SQL, and SFTP to support data workflows and system integrations.
  • Design and implement AI-enabled tools and services, including chatbots, automation scripts, and analytics tools.
  • Monitor integration and web platform performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize reliability and speed.
  • Partner with information security and data stewards to apply appropriate controls, permissions, and data-handling practices.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership, Marketing and Communications, and campus departments to identify opportunities for digital innovation and improved user experiences.
  • Ensure web and digital solutions comply with accessibility standards and applicable data protection practices.
  • Translate business requirements into functional application designs, workflows, forms, data structures, and business rules.
  • Assist with security and data protection settings, security procedures, and the identification and investigation of security risks.
  • Configure and manage SSO/SAML connectivity between the University's identity management tools and enterprise systems.
  • Ensure integration practices align with compliance standards, including FERPA, GDPR, and PCI-DSS.
  • Create and maintain documentation for systems architecture, integrations, and AI solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in web development, systems integration, or a related field.
  • Experience with web and mobile application frameworks and technology stacks, such as React, Django, PostgreSQL, or Concrete5.
  • Knowledge of web standards, platform and browser capabilities, limitations, coding best practices, and workflow best practices.
  • Understanding of client-server architecture, web scaling and performance, and physical and virtual server infrastructure.
  • Hands-on technical knowledge related to development setup, troubleshooting, maintenance, monitoring, and management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in scripting languages, such as Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, or similar tools.
  • Experience with data integration platforms and techniques, such as iPaaS, SQL, SFTP, APIs, and related tools.
  • Familiarity with AI technologies and frameworks, such as OpenAI or LLM APIs.
  • Ability to partner effectively with a broad range of customers to design and deliver technology solutions in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Strong communication, project management, documentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-focused and proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to handle confidential information sensitively and appropriately.
  • Strong analytical and technical aptitude with a focus on identifying and addressing the root cause of problems.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and work with ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse workplace and supporting an inclusive community.
  • Commitment to professionalism, efficiency, a positive attitude, ongoing professional development, and continuous learning., * Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in higher education IT environments.
  • Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague, Slate, PowerFAIDS, and integration tools.
  • Certifications in project management, such as PMP, or AI/ML technologies.
