Job description
Provides 24/7 primary support in the area of Cisco network administration, security, and customer support as assigned. Designs, implements, maintains, updates, and monitors all aspects of Cisco network hardware such as switches, routers, firewalls, IPS, IDS, software, and services. Implements, maintains, updates, and monitors all aspects of Cisco software such as Smartnet and IOS. Responsible for County network security and design. Responsible for preventing malware and zero day attacks pertaining to county equipment. Responsible for providing and maintaining wireless access throughout all county buildings. Responsible for providing and maintaining VoIP access throughout all county buildings. Responsible for installing and maintaining Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units. Works with state and local law enforcement to provide access to state CAD system for Fire and Police departments. Responsible for state audits pertaining to LEADS. This position also involves being The LEADS security officer (LASO) for the county, which requires adhering to state security implementations and audits. Technical point of contact for the Board of Elections requiring strict adherence to security directives published by the Secretary of State. Plans for assigned projects utilizing standard project management software and complying with ISD standards. Tracks and reports progress against established plans. Attends classes, conferences, training seminars and other related events as deemed necessary to maintain education levels required to perform job duties.
Communicates with the vendor / customer, installs hardware / software, updates, trouble shoots any system or network communication problems. Prepares specifications for new and or replacement systems. Gathers and organizes requirements for new applications or enhancements. Documents structures, information flow, and relationships utilizing generally accepted system analysis methodologies.
Client Manager - Perform liaison duties related to IS projects between assigned county departments and offices. Assist assigned client organization in the daily use and support of each system. Conduct meetings to gather requirements from IS clients and assist each client to define their information system requirements.
Works alone or with other persons in short or long-term team projects to resolve problems or conflicts in any area of county operations or to complete assigned projects at the direction of supervisor or Department Head when assigned. Works aggressively to reduce or eliminate safety/risk concerns in current position or work location. Reports safety/risk management issues to immediate supervisor. New and other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a similarly related technical degree or preferred three or more years of equivalent work experience . Knowledge of Windows based operating systems and Cisco based networks. Strong problem-solving skills and inherent decision-making ability. Good initiative and assertiveness. The position requires advanced networking knowledge relating to TCP/IP, Routing, Active Directory, Exchange Online, VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Windows Server, Windows OS, VoIP technology, Wireless technology, and IT Security practices. Advanced knowledge of installing and supporting LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems. Install, inventory, and maintain network hardware and software including maintenance and\or support contracts. Analyze and isolate network issues. Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users. Evaluate and modify system's performance. Maintain integrity of the network and security. Ensure network connectivity throughout a company's LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations. Design and deploy networks through use of subnetting, routing protocols, and routing table configuration. Assign and maintain configuration of authentication and authorization using RADIUS. Maintain network servers such as VPN gateways, intrusion prevention and detection systems, routers, switches, firewalls, as well as security updates and patches. Proficient with Microsoft Visio for use in creating and maintaining network diagrams . Strong verbal and written skills and be a multi-tasker. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
