Job description
We are looking for an experienced Microsoft 365 SharePoint Engineer to support a long-term enterprise project in Basel. This is a 3-year contract role with the possibility of extension.
The ideal candidate for this role will have strong hands-on experience in administering, maintaining and optimising hybrid SharePoint environments, including on-premise SharePoint Server farms and modern Microsoft 365 / SharePoint Online collaboration platforms. The role requires a strong combination of SharePoint infrastructure administration, monitoring, SPFx frontend integration, workflow automation and performance tuning.
Strategic Scope: Architecture, configuration, and custom programmatic extension of local on-premise SharePoint farms and hybrid online site topologies, designing custom workflow structures and localized data compliance record centers.
Tasks
- Farm Infrastructure Administration: Install, scale, patch, and manage physical multi-server local SharePoint Server configurations, maintaining system health and high application load performance.
- Telemetry & Monitoring Oversight: Configure, audit, and analyze ULS (Unified Logging Service) log chains, IIS application traces, and performance counters to identify architectural bottlenecks.
- Custom Frontend Integration: Program and integrate highly responsive user web interfaces, client extensions, and localized widgets leveraging the modern SharePoint Framework (SPFx) and PnP patterns.
- Workflow Automation Construction: Model, deploy, and debug complex multi-step document workflow automations, routing validations, and transactional document processing forms.
- Code Refactoring & Tuning: Analyze custom farm solutions and server-side code assemblies to optimize database read/write queries and maintain rapid page-load execution indexes.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in SharePoint administration, SharePoint Server farm management, or Microsoft 365 collaboration platform engineering.
- Strong experience installing, configuring, patching, scaling and maintaining multi-server SharePoint Server farm environments.
- Good knowledge of SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365 collaboration services and hybrid SharePoint platform architectures.
- Experience monitoring and troubleshooting SharePoint environments using ULS logs, IIS traces, performance counters and native diagnostic tools.
- Hands-on experience developing or integrating responsive SharePoint user interfaces, extensions and web parts using SharePoint Framework (SPFx) and PnP patterns.
- Experience designing, deploying and troubleshooting document workflows, approval processes, routing rules and automated business forms.
- Good understanding of SharePoint performance optimisation, including page-load performance, database query behaviour, indexing, caching and custom solution tuning.
- Ability to analyse, refactor and support custom SharePoint farm solutions, server-side code assemblies and legacy platform components.
- Strong documentation skills, including the ability to maintain runbooks, configuration guides, technical diagrams and operational procedures.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a distributed project team.
- Languages : Flawless bilingual/native-level business German communications proficiency (C1/C2 level written and spoken) is required. The candidate must present seamlessly in German during the technical panel interview (Anbieterfachgespräch).
- Swiss Compliance : Must hold EU/EFTA nationality or possess an active, valid Swiss permanent residency/work card (C Permit or unrestricted B/G Permit).
