Job description
The appointee will mainly be responsible for research data management and collaborate with the Faculty's IT Team to provide support in maintaining the overall IT infrastructure, server administration, and delivering high-quality IT services at the Institute. He/she will ensure smooth functioning of all systems, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to deliver exceptional IT support and services. The appointee will play a crucial role in supporting various projects by coordinating IT requirements and ensuring seamless execution. They will also work in collaboration with stakeholders at the University and Faculty levels to ensure alignment of IT systems and processes. Furthermore, the appointee will provide technical support for events and functions and undertake ad hoc projects as assigned.
Requirements
Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience. They should demonstrate a quick learning ability, possess strong interpersonal skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to work proactively with faculty members in a fast-paced environment. Besides, they should possess a strong technical background and be capable of providing expert-level support across various IT systems and applications.
Applicants should have experience in managing research data. Solid experience in Linux (Red Hat/CentOS/Ubuntu) and Windows Server system administration, system shell scripting, database management, server hardware setup and maintenance, and peta-scale storage systems using distributed parallel file systems is essential Familiarity with high-performance computing clusters, VM/Container, cloud technologies, and Python would be advantageous. They should also have a proven track record of leading a team and successfully completing projects. Proficiency in scripting to automate tasks, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects, are essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for effective collaboration with stakeholders at all levels. Experience in IT procurement, including vendor management and contract negotiation, is highly valued.
