Job description

We are looking for a skilled and proactive IT Data Engineer to design and deliver high-quality, scalable data solutions that support digital transformation across the Sizewell C alliance.

You will play a key role in building and maintaining data pipelines, developing robust data platforms, and ensuring accurate, accessible data is available to support business decision-making. Working closely with BI analysts, project partners and functional teams, you will help shape and evolve the programme's digital capability in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Data Engineering & Architecture: Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines across structured and unstructured sources, developing data lakes, warehouses and enterprise data models to support reporting and analytics.
  • Integration & Platform Management: Integrate datasets across multiple systems and partners, and manage cloud-based data platforms (primarily Azure), ensuring performance, reliability and scalability.
  • ETL/ELT & Delivery Practices: Develop robust ETL/ELT processes and reusable components, embedding DevOps, CI/CD and automation best practices into the data engineering lifecycle.
  • Data Quality, Governance & Security: Ensure strong data governance, quality and security standards are applied, maintaining compliance with UK GDPR and organisational controls.
  • Reporting & Collaboration: Partner with BI teams to deliver trusted datasets and Power BI semantic models, supporting reporting, insights and wider digital transformation initiatives.

Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience working as a Data Engineer
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with data modelling
  • Hands-on experience with Azure and cloud-based data tools
  • Experience designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Good understanding of data architecture, warehousing and integration principles
  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts, including CI/CD and version control
  • Experience supporting enterprise reporting environments, including Power Platform or Power BI
  • Right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available for this role)

Desirable

  • Experience with Python, PySpark or R
  • Exposure to Agile delivery environments
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks
  • Experience working in infrastructure, regulated or large-scale project environments
  • Familiarity with streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka, Event Hub, IoT Hub)
  • Relevant Azure (e.g. DP-203) or Power BI certifications
