These positions support the delivery of robust, scalable data systems that enable better decision-making across the organisation.Roles of this type may sit within a collaborative engineering environment where you would work across data platforms, infrastructure and delivery teams to build and maintain the pipelines, systems and architectures that power our data capabilities. The work could involve designing data solutions, optimising performance, ensuring data quality and supporting stakeholders as they access and use data insights.What you would doTypical responsibilities could include:

  • Designing, building and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure that support business intelligence and analytics
  • Collaborating with data analysts, engineers and stakeholders to gather requirements and align data solutions to business needs
  • Implementing and optimising data quality checks and monitoring to ensure data accuracy and reliability
  • Supporting the deployment and management of data systems across cloud platforms and on-premises environments
  • Contributing to the selection, configuration and troubleshooting of data tools and technologies
  • Working with CI/CD practices to automate and streamline data infrastructure deployment
  • Documenting data architectures, processes and solutions to support team knowledge and handover

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Experience with data pipeline development and data infrastructure concepts
  • Working knowledge of SQL and at least one programming language such as Python or Java
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Understanding of distributed systems, APIs and microservices architecture
  • Ability to gather data requirements from stakeholders and translate them into technical solutions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to data quality

Experience with the following would be advantageous:

  • Google Cloud Data Engineer certification or equivalent
  • Tools such as Power BI, Terraform, or SAP systems (S/4HANA, ECC, RISE)
  • CI/CD frameworks and automation practices
  • BPMN, UML or data modelling standards
