The system will initially be deployed within Manchester Private Hospital before being launched commercially across the UK healthcare market.

About the Role

This is not a traditional graduate software engineering role.

We're looking for someone with exceptional motivation, curiosity and ambition who wants to accelerate their career by working directly with the founder on a real healthcare technology platform.

You don't need years of commercial experience.

Instead, we're looking for someone who enjoys solving difficult problems, learns quickly, embraces AI-assisted development, and wants to build software that has a real impact on patient care.

You will work closely with:

  • The Founder and Product Owner
  • Experienced third-party software developers
  • Clinical and healthcare advisors
  • UI/UX designers
  • External technology partners

You will be expected to grow into a technical product engineer with increasing ownership over time.

What You'll Be Doing

Software Development

  • Develop backend services using Laravel
  • Build responsive user interfaces using React
  • Work with MySQL databases
  • Build REST APIs
  • Integrate third-party services

AI-Assisted Development

You'll be encouraged to use modern AI development tools including:

  • ChatGPT
  • Claude
  • GitHub Copilot
  • Cursor
  • Windsurf
  • Other AI coding assistants

We believe AI should make developers more productive.

We're looking for someone who knows how to use AI intelligently while still understanding the code they produce.

Product Development

You'll work directly on:

  • Patient journeys
  • Appointment scheduling
  • CRM
  • Workflow automation
  • Messaging
  • Clinical documentation
  • Dashboards
  • Resource management

You'll learn how real healthcare organisations operate and help turn business processes into working software.

Working with Existing Software

Open Arogya is already under development.

You'll learn to:

  • Understand an existing codebase
  • Improve existing features
  • Fix defects
  • Refactor code
  • Review code written by third-party developers
  • Suggest improvements

Working with External Developers

You'll collaborate with experienced software vendors and developers.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding technical designs
  • Participating in code reviews
  • Testing delivered functionality
  • Helping ensure features meet business requirements
  • Learning how large software projects are managed

Pay: £35,000.00-£50,000.00 per year

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Strong understanding of programming fundamentals
  • Good knowledge of object-oriented programming
  • Understanding of databases and SQL
  • Familiarity with Git
  • Working knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • A willingness to learn Laravel and React if not already experienced
  • Confidence using AI-assisted development tools responsibly
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
