Job description
Hands-on IT Technician role supporting hardware, software, networks, and POS systems (Oracle Simphony) across multiple Global Brands locations, Global Brands Limited is seeking an IT Technician to join our IT department, reporting to the Group Head IT. The successful candidate will provide first-level technical support across multiple locations, troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and POS systems, and work closely with end users and external vendors to keep our business running smoothly. This is a hands-on role suited to a problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site environment., 1. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and recommend appropriate technology solutions.
- Work with developers and third-party vendors (e.g., Oracle, POS providers) to implement, optimize, and maintain systems.
- Provide first-level technical support to end users via phone, email, messaging, and in person.
- Log, track, prioritize, and resolve help desk tickets using an IT service management (ITSM) system.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and peripheral issues across desktops, laptops, POS systems, and mobile devices.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and endpoint devices.
- Perform system updates, patch management, and routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Support Point of Sale (POS) systems, including setup, troubleshooting, and coordination with vendors (e.g., Oracle Simphony).
- Assist in network support, including basic configuration, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and running data cabling where required.
- Maintain user accounts, access permissions, and security settings in accordance with company policies.
- Assist with backup procedures, data recovery processes, and business continuity efforts.
- Monitor systems for performance issues and escalate complex problems to higher-level support when necessary.
- Document technical procedures, configurations, and resolutions to build and maintain a knowledge base.
- Conduct onboarding and training for new users on IT systems, policies, and best practices.
- Ensure adherence to IT security policies, including antivirus management, endpoint protection, and safe computing practices.
- Support and maintain auxiliary systems such as music, surveillance (camera systems), and communication devices.
- Coordinate equipment setup, relocation, and decommissioning activities.
- Liaise with external vendors for procurement, repairs, and service support.
- Identify opportunities to improve IT processes, efficiency, and user experience.
- Perform routine audits of IT equipment and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Provide on-site and remote support across multiple locations as required.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience in an IT support or technician role within a dynamic environment
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of five (5) CXC passes including Mathematics, English, and Information Technology
- Experience supporting Point of Sale (POS) systems; Oracle Simphony experience is a strong asset
- Hands-on experience with hardware installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routers, switches, Wi-Fi)
- Experience with structured cabling and network setup is an asset
- Familiarity with Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and common business applications
- IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, Cisco) are an asset, * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
