Day-to-Day:

Lead design and implementation of enterprise storage and data protection solutions

Define standards, architectures, lifecycle strategies, and service models

Act as technical product owner for storage & backup platforms

Drive cyber resiliency initiatives (disaster recovery, ransomware protection, validation)

Implement automation frameworks for infrastructure operations

Collaborate across cloud, infrastructure, security, application, and network teams

Perform advanced troubleshooting across storage, SAN, backup, and recovery systems

Develop monitoring, alerting, and operational metrics standards

Lead technical workstreams and provide guidance to project teams and vendors

Support cloud-first strategy and hybrid infrastructure evolution, Insight Global is seeking a Principal Engineer, Storage and Data Protection for a leading enterprise organization focused on large-scale infrastructure transformation and cloud adoption. This individual will play a critical role in defining and executing the strategy for storage and data protection across hybrid environments, combining hands-on engineering with high-level architectural leadership. The ideal candidate will drive innovation in cyber resiliency, automation, and cloud-integrated storage solutions while partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and highly available infrastructure. Requirements
10-15+ years of enterprise infrastructure engineering/IT leadership experience

5+ years hands-on with storage and data protection engineering

Strong expertise with Dell EMC storage (Isilon/PowerScale, PowerMax)

Experience with Brocade SAN fabric (zoning, troubleshooting, connectivity)
-
Deep knowledge of Rubrik (backup policies, recovery workflows, platform mgmt)
-
Experience with cyber resiliency (immutable backups, ransomware recovery, DR readiness)
-
Strong background in cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP) and hybrid environments
-
Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, REST APIs, CI/CD pipelines, Git)
-
Proven ability defining standards, roadmaps, lifecycle strategies, and governance
-
Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, replication, and availability
-
Exposure to IT governance, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and compliance frameworks

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field - AWS FSx for NetApp ONTAP experience

GCP storage and backup services

Dell Data Domain, PowerProtect, Avamar, or Networker

NetApp ONTAP expertise
-
DDVE in AWS
-
Experience in regulated or security-heavy environments

Certifications (AWS, GCP, Dell, Rubrik, Terraform, Ansible, ITIL, Security)

Experience with enterprise monitoring & observability tools
