Job description

Perform technical analysis related to power electronics and power systems control of renewable , battery energy storage systems, large industrial drives, and FACTS. Support customers with power systems engineering expertise, including modeling, analysis, equipment design and specification, and failure mode analysis. Create, modify, and parametrize simulation models for GE Vernova inverter-based resources (IBR) such as wind turbines, solar, and battery storage. Evaluate grid code compliance and the impact of renewable projects on bulk power systems. Support development of transmission and distribution-connected IBR and distributed energy resource (DER) products for evolving codes and standards, including participation in industry standards groups. Perform power system transient studies and detailed equipment modeling using appropriate software tools. Develop technical understanding of electrical characteristics of GE Vernova's power electronic and transmission products and their integration with electrical grids. Communicate results to internal and external customers by preparing detailed written reports or presentations describing analyses, solutions, and customer value propositions. Enhance industry knowledge by presenting technical content at regional forums and conferences; serve as a thought leader in industry activities. Actively participate in a collaborative environment that values teamwork, quality, customer service, and innovation.

Requirements

Master's degree in electrical engineering, electric power engineering, or a related field and minimum three years of industry experience performing transient analysis using PSCAD/EMTDC and EMTP, and steady state and dynamic analysis using large database simulation tools such as PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSLF, and DSATools. Three years of industry experience with common programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, FORTRAN). OR Ph.D. in electrical engineering, electric power engineering, or a related field (no industry experience required). Strong background in power system analysis. Solid understanding of inverter-based resources (control system design) and experience developing user-defined models. Eligibility Requirements

Willingness to travel for supporting project work, attending industry standard working group meetings, and conferences (up to 10%). Eligibility for remote work within the United States. Desired Characteristics

Advanced experience creating and modifying dynamic user models in simulation tools such as PSS/E, PowerFactory, DSATools, and PSLF. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Advanced experience with steady state and dynamic analysis using large database simulation tools and programming like C, C++. Experience with electromagnetic transient simulation tools (PSCAD/EMTDC, EMTP). Advanced experience with dynamic and time-domain simulation tools, including Fortran programming of user-written models and Python/MATLAB scripting. Demonstrated application of complex mathematics and engineering to real-world electric power system problems. Published articles on power systems engineering topics and participation in industry standards working groups. Experience with data center related studies (plus). Project management experience.
