Job description

The Principal Data Links & Communications Engineer will support Air Force programs by providing technical leadership for the development, integration, testing, and deployment of tactical data link and communications systems, with a strong focus on Link 22 interoperability. This individual will work closely with Chief Engineers, Program Managers, Integrated Product Teams, and government stakeholders to define system requirements, evaluate communications architectures, and ensure successful integration of mission-critical capabilities. Responsibilities include supporting developmental and operational test activities, assessing system performance and interoperability, developing interface requirements, coordinating with DoD and joint-service organizations, and providing engineering guidance on communications, networking, cryptologic systems, and command-and-control technologies. The engineer will play a key role in ensuring systems meet performance, schedule, cost, and mission objectives while supporting modernization efforts across Air Force communications and tactical data link programs.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field Active Top Secret Security Clearance Experience supporting Air Force, DoD, or Joint Service communications programs Hands-on experience with Link 22 and tactical data link communications systems Knowledge of data link integration, interoperability, testing, and deployment activities Experience developing system requirements, interface definitions, and verification strategies Understanding of Developmental Test & Evaluation (DT&E) and Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) Experience supporting systems engineering efforts throughout the acquisition lifecycle Familiarity with government acquisition documentation (SEP, SOW, Acquisition Strategy, Roadmaps, User Agreements) Knowledge of networking, embedded mission systems, and communications architectures Experience with Link 16, Combat Net Radio (CNR), DACAS, JINTACCS, USMTF, and Interface Control principles Familiarity with cryptologic systems and secure communications environments Experience working with cross-functional government, military, and contractor stakeholders Strong analytical, communication, and technical leadership skills, 5+ years of experience in software design and requirements development Proficiency with C++ and/or Java Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Working knowledge of SysML, UML, DoDAF, and Cameo Experience supporting command-and-control (C2), C4ISR, or tactical communications programs Ability to lead engineering discussions and provide guidance to senior program leadership and technical teams

  • Prefer local to Hanscom AFB but could try selling in candidates from Robbins AFB
