Job description

  • Seeking a hands-on AI Engineer to support the ongoing operation, modernization, and enhancement of AI-enabled applications for the Department of Banking and other state agencies.
  • The ideal candidate will develop, deploy, maintain, and extend AI-driven solutions using Python, modern web frameworks, Microsoft Azure, and AI-assisted software development workflows.
  • This role will collaborate closely with the Connecticut AI Lab, a centralized team supporting AI architecture, shared infrastructure, and engineering enablement across state agencies.
  • The candidate will work with confidential and regulated financial/examination data while following secure development practices.
  • The position requires strong experience in building production-ready applications powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) and evaluating AI model performance., * Develop, enhance, maintain, and extend existing AI-enabled applications and supporting services.
  • Design and build applications using Python and modern web frameworks such as FastAPI.
  • Develop application logic, web APIs, data flows, screens, forms, and reports.
  • Build and integrate solutions powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) including:
  • OpenAI GPT
  • Google Gemini
  • Anthropic Claude
  • Analyze requirements and participate in project planning sessions with customers, analysts, and technical teams.
  • Translate user requirements into scalable technical solutions from intake through production deployment.
  • Prepare, review, debug, and optimize source code while maintaining software integrity.
  • Deploy, configure, monitor, and support applications in cloud environments.
  • Develop and maintain services using Microsoft Azure services including:
  • Azure App Service
  • Azure Storage
  • Azure Key Vault
  • Related Azure cloud services
  • Utilize Git-based source control and pull-request-based collaboration workflows.
  • Work effectively in an AI-assisted software development environment, using modern coding assistants for:
  • Code generation
  • Code review
  • Debugging
  • Development acceleration
  • Evaluate and compare AI models through techniques such as A/B testing and performance analysis.
  • Provide technical guidance related to infrastructure usage and application integration.
  • Document system processes, workflows, technical procedures, and application designs.
  • Participate in technology evaluations and recommend modern solutions.
  • Follow secure development practices and ensure proper handling of confidential or regulated data.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience developing applications in Python web environments.
