What you'll do We are searching for a agile, passionate and experienced leader (m/f/d) to head the ABAP Foundation Model team in Berlin, Germany. This dynamic team is at the forefront of SAP's cloud transformation efforts, leveraging large language models to accelerate our customers' data and code transformation. The team collaborates closely with established teams in US and India, various SAP stakeholders, and early adopter customers. You will play a key role in shaping our next big investment and coordinating with data science leads of ABAP Foundation Model teams globally.
Team Lead: Form and lead a diverse team of data scientists and data engineers. Foundation Model Development: Oversee the development, fine-tuning, and delivery of foundation models to streamline SAP customers' cloud transformation journeys. Stakeholder Management: Ensure alignment of team objectives with the broader goals of the ABAP Foundation Model unit and coordinate with different stakeholders within SAP.
Requirements
- Educational Background: Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in data science, machine learning algorithms, and NLP.
- 10+ years of related professional experience with experience in shipping features and ML models to production.
- 2+ years experience in managing and leading data science teams.
- 1+ years of experience working with fine tuning LLM models.
- Good to have: Experience finetuning LLMs for Code Generation.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to inspire, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
- Agile Mindset: Exceptional comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward iterative action, continuously informing strategy with empirical data and frequent feedback loops.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with stakeholders at various levels.
- Collaboration: Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing research collaborations.
