- Administration, maintenance, and optimization of our MariaDB database environment
- Ensuring high availability, data integrity, security, and performance of MariaDB databases
- Monitoring database health, analyzing performance bottlenecks, and implementing optimization measures
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Planning and executing database upgrades, migrations, and version updates
- Collaborating closely with application developers to optimize SQL queries, database schemas, and indexing strategies
- Monitoring system performance, identifying issues proactively, and troubleshooting database-related incidents
- Documenting database architectures, configurations, operational procedures, and best practices
- Automating database deployment, configuration, patching, and maintenance using modern automation tools
- Supporting capacity planning, scalability initiatives, and continuous improvement of the database platform
Requirements
- Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification
- Strong knowledge of MariaDB and practical experience administering relational database management systems
- Solid experience with SQL, database design, indexing, and query optimization
- Experience with MariaDB backup and recovery solutions, replication technologies, and high availability concepts
- Good understanding of database performance tuning and monitoring
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible is an advantage
- Linux system administration knowledge is a plus
- Experience with scripting languages such as Bash or Python is desirable
- Familiarity with database security best practices and access management
- Strong analytical skills, a structured and solution-oriented way of working, and a collaborative mindset
- Excellent communication skills in English
