Job description

This is a varied role combining hands-on installation work with technical troubleshooting across telecoms, networking and IT environments. You will spend the majority of your time on customer sites delivering installations, fault resolution and maintenance, while also supporting our Service Desk with remote support when not attending site., Field Engineering

  • Install, configure and maintain hosted telephony, networking and IT solutions.
  • Install and commission routers, switches, firewalls and wireless access points.
  • Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues.
  • Carry out structured data cabling installations, testing and fault finding.
  • Mount equipment including cabinets, access points, cameras and network hardware.
  • Use power tools safely to complete installations including drilling, trunking and cable routing.
  • Perform equipment replacements, upgrades and preventative maintenance.
  • Complete site documentation, sign-off paperwork and installation records.

Technical Support

  • Provide remote technical support when not attending customer sites.
  • Investigate and resolve support tickets across networking, telecoms and IT services.
  • Troubleshoot broadband, hosted voice and connectivity issues.
  • Escalate complex faults where appropriate whilst maintaining ownership of customer communication.
  • Assist with customer onboarding and project delivery.

Customer Service

  • Represent the business professionally whilst on customer sites.
  • Explain technical issues in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Build strong relationships with customers through excellent communication and service.
  • Ensure work areas are left clean, safe and tidy following every installation.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will enjoy practical work, be confident working independently, and have excellent customer service skills., * Experience installing and supporting network infrastructure.

  • Good understanding of:
  • Routers
  • Switches
  • Firewalls
  • Wireless networking
  • TCP/IP and basic networking principles
  • Experience with structured data cabling.
  • Confident using hand and power tools.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays where required.

Desirable

  • Experience with hosted VoIP platforms such as 3CX.
  • Experience installing CCTV or access control systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows environments.
  • Fibre and copper cabling experience.
  • Networking certifications (CompTIA Network+, Cisco, Ubiquiti, MikroTik, etc.)., * Technically curious and eager to learn.
  • Practical and enjoys hands-on engineering work.
  • Calm under pressure and able to think logically.
  • Reliable and organised.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive in identifying improvements and helping colleagues.
  • Passionate about delivering outstanding customer service.
