Roles of this type support the design, build and maintenance of robust data infrastructure and pipelines that enable organisations to harness data as a strategic asset. You could be contributing to initiatives that connect data systems, improve data quality and drive informed decision-making across the business.What you would doTypical responsibilities could include:
- Designing and building scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support analytics and reporting
- Collaborating with data analysts, business stakeholders and engineering teams to gather and align data requirements
- Implementing data quality checks and monitoring to ensure data accuracy and reliability
- Developing and maintaining ETL processes and data workflows
- Working with cloud platforms and data technologies to optimise data storage, access and performance
- Contributing to the documentation and standardisation of data architecture and best practices
- Supporting the integration of data systems and APIs to enable seamless data flow
- Troubleshooting data pipeline issues and improving system reliability
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with data quality analysis and requirements gathering
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud
- Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD practices and version control
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice-to-have experience could include:
- Google Cloud Data Engineer certification or equivalent
- Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
- Programming experience in Python, Java or similar languages
- Knowledge of BI tools such as Power BI
- Experience with SAP environments or enterprise data systems
