Job description

The IT division delivers the Technology and Services that enable the Canopius Group to achieve its strategic and business goals.

The Technology team is on a journey to provide a flexible and iterative software delivery function to all areas of the business - allowing us to respond quickly and innovatively to internal user requirements and therefore provide external market advantage.

As a Developer, you will collaborate with business units to understand their challenges and work with delivery teams to design and build scalable solutions.

In addition to hands-on development, you will help ensure solutions move safely through development, testing and release by applying agreed application lifecycle management (ALM), environment and governance practices.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

Core Development Responsibilities

  • Build and optimise enterprise-scale model-driven applications including complex Dataverse tables, business rules, forms, views, and security structures.

  • Develop and maintain Dataverse customisations, including calculated/rollup fields, business process flows, workflows, and plug-ins.

  • Implement robust, scalable data models and ensure high performance through optimisation techniques and solution refactoring.

  • Work closely with architects and senior engineers to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture and integrate effectively with downstream systems.

  • Support and enhance existing solutions, troubleshooting issues and continuously improving performance and usability.

Application Lifecycle Management, Environments and Release

  • Apply agreed ALM practices across development, test and production environments.

  • Support reliable releases by using automated deployment pipelines, validation checks and change controls.

Power Platform Governance & Centre of Excellence (CoE)

  • Contribute to CoE standards that promote secure, consistent and maintainable Power Platform delivery.

  • Help manage risks relating to security, licensing, data usage and platform scalability.

  • Encourage reuse through shared components, templates and delivery patterns.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work with business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions.

  • Contribute to design reviews, architecture discussions, and governance forums.

  • Share good practice with junior developers, particularly around maintainability, testing and release readiness.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of .NET, .NET Core and C#.

  • Familiarity with Object Orientated programming concepts e.g. SOLID, and software design patterns.

  • Solid understanding of consuming API technologies with knowledge of RESTful services.

  • Relevant experience of database design and development (Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL).

  • Solid understanding of web development - JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, with libraries/frameworks such as React, Blazor and MVC.

  • Knowledge of automated test strategies and unit tests.

  • Adherence to coding standards and industry best practice.
