Job description
- Take the technical lead on upgrading existing Umbraco websites and applications to Umbraco 17.2
- Analyze the current estate and create upgrade plans
- Refactor code, handling content and data migration
- Ensure compatibility with modern .NET and Umbraco best practices
- Update document types, custom data components, dependencies, and API integrations
- Resolve any breaking changes introduced across previous versions
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across product, design, and QA
- Provide clear technical documentation and handover support at project completion

We are a large, forward-thinking organization within the public and community services sector undergoing a major digital transformation program. Our goal is to upgrade our Umbraco estate to the latest modern version to enhance stability, performance, and long-term scalability. You will be joining a collaborative Digital & Technology team on a 6-month contract to deliver this critical upgrade project, fully remote within the UK.
Requirements
- Proven and recent experience upgrading Umbraco websites to version 17.2
- Strong commercial background with Umbraco 10+ and modern .NET (6/7/8)
- Proficiency in C#, MVC, Razor, and dependency injection patterns
- Hands-on experience migrating content models, document types, data types, and packages
- Solid understanding of Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployment best practices
- Ability to work autonomously and resolve complex technical challenges
- Strong communication skills and confidence collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
