Job description

In this position, you will work alongside our senior developers to build and maintain internal dashboards. We spend a lot of time moving data between systems and ensuring that information flows correctly from one part of a business to another. You will be helping us build React components that display complex operational data and writing Node.js functions to process that data. Some days, the work is about building a new feature from scratch. Other days, it is about cleaning up legacy code or tracking down a bug in an API integration.

Requirements

You will also help us create the documentation and screen-recorded walkthroughs that we give to our clients to ensure they can manage their new tools. Since this is an entry-level role, we will provide guidance on how we write code and manage projects, but you will be expected to take ownership of specific tasks as you grow into the role. This position is paid, and the pay is competitive for the entry-level market.

What You Bring We are looking for someone who is organized and enjoys the process of solving logical puzzles. You do not need to have held a developer title before, but you should have a solid understanding of how web applications work through your studies or personal projects. We value people who write readable code that others can understand easily. Since we are a fully remote company, you need to be a clear communicator who can explain what you are working on and where you might be stuck. You should be comfortable with the idea that our work is essential rather than flashy. This role requires a high degree of reliability and a genuine curiosity about how systems work under the hood.

Helpful Background While we do not expect you to be an expert, having some familiarity with the primary tools we use will help you get started more effectively. We are looking for basic proficiency in a few of the following areas:

  • Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript basics.
  • Experience building simple components with React.
  • A basic understanding of Node.js for server-side logic.
  • Knowledge of SQL or how relational databases like Postgres function.
  • Comfort using Git and GitHub for tracking your work.
  • An interest in how APIs work and how to pull data from different sources.
  • A habit of taking notes and writing down how your code works.
  • The ability to explain technical details clearly in writing.

Working at Pixel Systems Working here is different from working at a large corporation. There are no layers of management to navigate and no corporate jargon. We are a small team of developers and designers who prefer solving real operational headaches over chasing the latest trends. When something breaks, we are the ones who fix it. We value honesty and transparency, both with our clients and with each other. Because we are a fully remote team, you will have the flexibility to manage your own workspace, but you will still be part of a collaborative environment where we share ideas and troubleshoot problems daily. The work you do will have a direct impact on the people using our software, such as warehouse managers or operations teams at our infrastructure clients. We are a team that values long-term stability over short-term hype. We build software that is meant to last and be maintained easily for years. If you enjoy the idea of building tools that actually help people get their work done more efficiently, you will feel at home here. At Pixel Systems, we focus on getting the work right and shipping code that we are proud to stand behind.

About the company

Pixel Systems is a small, remote software agency that builds the tools teams actually use to do their jobs. We do not build flashy consumer apps or marketing sites that disappear after a few weeks. Instead, we focus on the practical stuff: admin panels, CRM integrations, and the database migrations that people usually try to avoid. Our clients come to us when they need to replace a disorganized system with a real database or get their different software tools to finally talk to one another. We believe that working code is better than a perfect plan that never ships. Our approach is straightforward. We provide fixed quotes before we start, we do weekly demos, and we hand over everything when we are finished. This includes the code, the documentation, and even walkthrough videos. We use reliable, well-tested technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be stable and easy to maintain.
