Job description
- We monitor and respond to security alerts across SIEM and EDR platforms.
- We manage and tune security tools including firewalls, WAFs, and endpoint protection.
- We investigate and support response to security incidents.
- We perform vulnerability assessments and track remediation.
- We support implementation of security controls across cloud and on-premises environments.
- We contribute to security policies, standards, and procedures.
- We assist with threat detection engineering and rule tuning.

Requirements
- We are looking for a skilled and motivated Cyber Security / IT Security Engineer to join our growing team.
- We need strong understanding of core security technologies, including NGFW, WAF, EDR, and SIEM.
- We require experience in a SOC, security engineering, or infrastructure security role.
- We need good knowledge of networking and common attack types such as SQL injection, phishing, and malware.
- We require experience with log analysis and incident investigation.
- We need familiarity with Windows and/or Linux environments.
- We require understanding of OWASP Top 10 security risks.
- We need the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, incident-driven environment.
- Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, GIAC GSEC, or ISC2 certifications are desirable.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud is desirable.
- Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, or Bash is desirable.
- Exposure to threat hunting or SIEM rule development is desirable.
Benefits & conditions
We are a growing cyber security team based in Altrincham, South Manchester, working in a modern hybrid IT environment alongside infrastructure, cloud, and SOC teams. This is a hands-on technical role where you will help protect critical systems, improve our security posture, and support incident response. We offer a salary of up to £55,000 depending on experience, plus benefits, along with training and certification support, career progression within our growing security function, and a collaborative, supportive technical team environment.
