Job description

The information systems technologist performs routine entry-level activities in the areas of application/program development and computer system support for end users, including program debugging, server maintenance, information system management for software applications, problem diagnosis/resolution, and communications. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.

As you continue to learn, acquire new skills, and gain experience, you can be promoted to a higher-level position. Responsibilities - What you'll do

What you'll do:

  • Network Design & Implementation: Plan, design, and deploy Cisco hardware across MoDOT facilities, provider sites, and rural ITS cabinets.
  • Configuration & Maintenance: Build and update configurations, apply IOS/NX-OS patches, and push network policies across all MoDOT LAN/WAN devices.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose connectivity issues, packet loss, and port problems, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate service-provider trouble tickets.
  • Monitoring & Optimization: Use tools to track traffic, bandwidth, and device health, optimizing routing/switching and validating with Fluke and standard Windows commands.
  • Documentation: Create network diagrams and maintain LAN/WAN documentation to track data circuits and network inventory.

Requirements

  • 60 credit hours toward a related Bachelor's Degree, OR
  • Associate's Degree: Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field, OR
  • High School Diploma or GED/HiSET, and two years of experience in computer systems, repairs, and operations.

Special Working Conditions/Job Characteristics:

  • Job requires occasional, statewide, overnight travel., * 3+ years of networking experience
