World Congress 2024

Explaining technical debt to management

July 19, 2024 14:00 – 15:00 · 60 min Workshop room M3 (45)

What this session covers

Today, we no longer develop software on a green field site, but expand and modify existing systems. In the process, the code becomes increasingly complex and accumulates technical debt. We are all aware of this in the development team, but how do we explain to management that it makes sense to reduce technical debt at an early stage? In this presentation, I will share my experience from various contexts and give recommendations on how to overcome the communication barrier between management and development teams.
