Building Agentic Apps with Docker

July 10, 2025 10:45 – 12:45 · 120 min M2 (40 Seats)

What this session covers

Building GenAI apps may feel like a large leap, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the stack. With Docker, you can use the same tools and processes you’re using on your other apps, but with this new stack! And you’ll quickly come to learn that it’s not as different as you thought.

This hands-on workshop is designed for developers of all backgrounds - whether you’re just getting started with GenAI or looking to deepen your understanding of Docker’s latest AI tooling. We’ll walk through the fundamentals of LLMs, learn about tool calling and MCP, and then orchestrate agents using Docker Compose. By the end, you’ll have created your very own agentic application!

Agenda: Introduction to LLMs and the OpenAI API Running models with Docker Model Runner Choosing the right LLM - trust and security Understanding tool calling and MCP Running MCP Servers with the Docker MCP Toolkit Step-by-step guidance to build a simple Agentic app Sneak peeks on orchestrating more advanced agents with Compose
