Multithreading in Javascript: A guide to Web Workers

July 11, 2025 09:40 – 10:10 · 30 min Stage 9
frontend performance javascript

What this session covers

Javascript as a single threaded language is unable to maximise the full potential of our CPUs, but there might be a solution: Web Workers.

Not without understanding all the concepts around the Javascript engine first (call stack, event loop, micro tasks, macro tasks, asynchronous functions…) let’s find a project in which multithreading could be suitable and dive into a demonstration on how to convert the single threaded code into multithreaded.

Are Web Workers the performance solution you need for you application? Do they have any downside or everything is clear and shiny? Let’s find it out
