We Know Developers Are Neurodiverse. So Why Do Tech Teams Still Break?

June 30, 2026

What this session covers

Neurodiversity in tech teams is no longer a blind spot. Many leaders are aware that developers and product talents are often neurodivergent. In practice, however, this awareness rarely changes how teams are led. Neurodivergence is reduced to labels like “quirky,” “awkward,” or “hard to work with,” while everyday leadership habits remain untouched.

This talk explores why awareness alone does not improve collaboration or performance. Using concrete examples from tech organizations, it shows where leadership practices quietly fail: meeting formats that drain deep thinkers, decision-making processes that reward speed over clarity, and performance expectations that push tech teams into isolation from the rest of the business.

The session is practical, direct, and grounded in real situations leaders recognize immediately. Tech leaders will leave with three clear takeaways: 1. How to spot when a team problem is actually a design problem in meetings, workflows, or decision-making. 2. Which leadership behaviors unintentionally turn neurodiverse strengths into sources of friction. 3. How to make small, structural changes that reduce tension, improve collaboration, and protect the creative energy tech teams depend on.

The goal is not better awareness, but better leadership.
