Visionary Broadband Innovation Communication Self-Motivation Desktop Computing Telecommunications Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial ArcGIS (GIS Software) Artificial Intelligence Remote Desktop Services Outside Plant Engineering Virtual Private Networks (VPN) National Electrical Safety Code, TDS Telecom is doubling down on its commitment to improve rural broadband through Enhanced Alternative Connect America Cost Model (E-ACAM) support from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). E-ACAM is a multi-year program that provides funding to deploy and support 100/20 Mbps or faster broadband service to some of the most rural geographies in our footprint. Assist in the creation of OSP Design maps using GIS. You will have to understand numerous projects, possibly located in multiple locations and states. Responsibilities: Responsible for the design of OSP projects in multiple locations and states. This may involve: Creating labor, material, and overheads project cost estimates. Utilize GIS tools to design fiber network builds within a GIS platform, often partnering with other OSP Engineering (OSPE) associates. Create and perform analysis on fiber network designs for the OSP teams utilizing GIS tools and extensions., ArcGIS PRO - required need to have been in a production heavy role experience designing 7+ miles / week self motivated - ok doing repetitive work and doing this independently GIS degrees stand out to them telecom / fiber design would be a plus These are the “other” qualifications we usually put on our job descriptions as well. The GIS/ArcGIS experience is probably our highest need because all our design work occurs in that software. -ESRI ArcGIS experience - required -Fiber design (new routes) - required -Understanding of Telecommunications industry and principals -Knowledge of NESC construction practices and engineering standards -Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously -Ability to read and assess fiber and/or HFC designs and prints -Need their own desktop computer that would VPN into a remote desktop that TDS would provide. Their computer would only need to be capable of creating the connection and then TDS would provide all necessary software and connections via that remote desktop. *A lot of GIS design work can vary significantly from project to project, so it’s important to emphasize the engineering aspect of the role-specifically fiber engineering Have they done fiber engineering before? What they are doing at TDS: Determining cable counts Identifying what equipment needs to put in the ground What side of the road you are trying to put the cable? Off the center line? Can you do distributed spilt fiber to the home? (This is how TDS get their fibers assigned from their center office), Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI): We may use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support parts of our hiring process, including sourcing, screening, and evaluating candidates.
