Job description

At Securian Financial, the internal title for this position is Reporting & Analytics Sr Analyst., Reporting & Analytics Delivery

  • Design, develop, enhance, andmaintainrecurring and ad hoc reports,surveys,dashboards, scorecards, and analytical solutions that supportthe business.

  • Translate business questions into data-driven insights and actionable recommendations.

  • Ensure reporting outputs areaccurate, scalable, and aligned withreportingand analytics standards.

  • Conduct trend analysis, root cause analysis, andexploratorydata analysis toidentifyopportunities, risks, and emerging patterns.

Data Management & Governance

  • Perform data extraction, cleansing, transformation, validation, and integration activities across multiple systems and data sources.

  • Research and resolve data quality issues and help improve data integrity and reporting consistency.

  • Develop andmaintainstandardizeddata catalogs includingbusiness definitions, calculations, KPIs, and reporting documentation.

  • Contributeto the evolution of reporting standards and best practices.

Tools, Technology & Continuous Improvement

  • Utilize reporting and analytics tools such as SQL, Tableau, Business Objects, RStudio, or similar technologies to support business intelligence initiatives.

  • Partner with enterprise teams to improve datamarts, reporting capabilities, metadata, and data cataloging efforts.

  • Identifyopportunities to automate reporting processes and improve efficiency through enhanced analytics capabilities and tooling.

  • Support testing, validation, and implementation of reporting enhancements and process improvements.

Business Partnership & Consultation

  • Collaborate with business partners to understand reporting and analytics needs, define requirements, and prioritize requests.

  • Serve as a trusted partner to stakeholders by providing analytical support and recommendations.

  • Summarize findings and present insights in a clear, concise manner tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Computer Science, ora relatedfield; or equivalent work experience.

  • Strong data manipulation and analytical skills, including data extraction, transformation, cleansing, and validation.

  • Experience with business intelligence and analytics tools such as SQL, Tableau, Business Objects, RStudio, or similar technologies.

  • Ability to work with complex data from multiple sources.

  • Strong organization and attention to detail to ensure quality standards and deadlines are met.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain processes and results tostakeholders.

  • Effective prioritization skills, including the ability to balance accuracy, resources, and timelines within the bigger picture.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Individual Solution’s data sources, their content & structure.

  • Familiarity with life insurance and annuity products, distribution channels, and business operations.

  • Experience developing KPI definitions, data dictionaries, or metadata documentation.

  • Exposure todata governance, data quality management, or reporting standards.

  • Experience collaborating across business and technology teams in agile or cross-functional environments., Adaptability, Analytical Thinking, Data Storytelling, Proactive Problem Solving, Strategic Questioning, Verbal Communications
