Job description
We are looking for a skilled VMware Security / NSX Engineer (L3) with hands-on experience in deploying and configuring VMware NSX and VMware vDefend security solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing, configuring, and supporting enterprise network security features, including distributed firewalls, micro-segmentation, threat prevention, and security integrations. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on delivering secure VMware environments., * Deploy, configure, and support VMware NSX and VMware vDefend security solutions.
- Implement Distributed Firewall (DFW) policies and micro-segmentation for workload protection.
- Configure and manage IDS/IPS, Network Traffic Analysis (NTA), Network Detection and Response (NDR), and threat prevention capabilities.
- Integrate VMware security solutions with enterprise SIEM platforms for centralized monitoring and alerting.
- Configure security policies, firewall rules, security groups, and distributed routing.
- Perform security testing, validation, and troubleshooting of VMware NSX environments.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, cloud, and security teams during implementation.
- Support production deployments, upgrades, migrations, and operational activities.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure platform availability.
- Prepare implementation documentation, configuration guides, and operational runbooks.
- Follow enterprise security standards and VMware best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of IT infrastructure and virtualization experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with VMware NSX and VMware vDefend.
- Strong experience with Distributed Firewall (DFW) and Micro-Segmentation.
- Hands-on experience with IDS/IPS, NTA/NDR, and Threat Prevention.
- Experience integrating VMware security solutions with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, Microsoft Sentinel).
- Strong understanding of VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
- Knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, VLANs, VXLAN, routing, switching, and firewalls.
- Experience troubleshooting NSX networking and security issues.
- Good scripting knowledge using PowerShell or Python is a plus.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
