Job description
As a Controls Design Engineer II, you will be responsible for providing electrical and controls design improvements for the electrical and controls infrastructure of our manufactured product lines. You will coordinate site-wide drawings for applicable sites and projects, ensuring compliance with engineering documents, manufacturing standards, and safety regulations such as UL and NEC. Your primary goal will be to ensure the safety, quality, functionality, and overall conformity of our products. The role involves working independently as well as collaboratively, contributing to moderately complex to complex aspects of projects, and may include supervising and guiding lower-level Controls Designers and Control Design Engineers.
Responsibilities

Design electrical and controls systems for product improvements and site-wide projects.

Ensure compliance with UL, NEC, and NFPA 79 standards.

Collaborate with team members to ensure projects meet engineering and manufacturing standards.

Supervise and guide lower-level Controls Designers and Control Design Engineers as needed.

Manage and own 4-5 projects simultaneously.

Interpret and apply construction drawings, specifications, and other related documents.

Inspect in-progress products in manufacturing and assist in moving materials and equipment occasionally., This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days onsite and 2 days from home. The position involves interfacing with production as builds progress to ensure projects are on time and of high quality. The remaining time will be spent in an office setting, primarily working behind a CAD screen. Occasionally, you may need to inspect products in progress and assist with moving materials weighing around 40 lbs.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably electrical.

3+ years of related experience.

Proficient in 2-D AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent software.

Knowledgeable in UL, NEC, and NFPA 79 standards.

Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to read and interpret construction and electrical/control drawings.

Benefits & conditions
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Durham, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.00/hr.
