Job description

We are looking for a skilled Test Engineer to join our agile delivery team, ensuring the quality, accessibility, and reliability of modern digital services. You’ll work across React front-end applications, Node.js back-end services, and AWS cloud infrastructure, contributing to the delivery of secure, scalable, and user-centred solutions., * Create, document, and maintain comprehensive Test Approaches and Test Plans.

  • Estimate testing effort for user stories and features during sprint planning.
  • Apply industry-standard testing methodologies and best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Plan, prepare, execute, and report on functional, integration, system, regression, and user acceptance testing.
  • Develop and maintain automated UI tests using Playwright with TypeScript.
  • Build and execute automated API tests using Playwright API Testing and/or RestAssured.
  • Create and maintain WireMock stubs and mock data to enable isolated service testing.
  • Test applications built using React, Node.js, AWS services, microservices, Lambda functions, and event-driven architectures using Kafka.
  • Validate ETL processes and integrations with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions where required.
  • Ensure all applications meet WCAG 2.2 AAA accessibility standards.
  • Record, manage, and retest defects using JIRA, ensuring accurate reporting throughout delivery.
  • Track testing progress and provide updates into sprint and programme reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with Business Analysts, Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and Product Owners as part of an Agile Scrum team.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience designing test strategies, developing automated UI and API tests, and working within Agile teams to deliver high-quality software across complex, cloud-native architectures., * Proven experience as a Test Engineer or QA Engineer within Agile software delivery teams.

  • Strong experience testing React front-end and Node.js back-end applications.
  • Experience testing cloud-native applications on AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright using TypeScript for UI automation.
  • Experience with API automation using Playwright API Testing and/or RestAssured.
  • Experience creating and maintaining WireMock stubs.
  • Strong understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures, including Apache Kafka.
  • Experience testing REST APIs, integrations, and distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of ETL testing and integration with RPA solutions.
  • Experience using JIRA for defect management and test execution tracking.
  • Solid understanding of software testing methodologies, test planning, and defect lifecycle management.
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience testing AWS Lambda functions and serverless applications.
  • Knowledge of accessibility testing tools and standards, particularly WCAG 2.2 AAA.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test integration.
  • Experience testing microsites or UI fragment-based architectures.
  • Familiarity with performance or non-functional testing.
