Job description

  • Perform daily inspections of critical mechanical and electrical equipment throughout the data center.
  • Complete rounds, equipment readings, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Monitor and manage work orders through the CMMS system.
  • Consolidate operational data and reports into standardized documentation.
  • Escort third-party contractors and vendors while ensuring compliance with site safety and operational procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining documentation including logbooks, SOPs, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and risk assessments.
  • Monitor and support critical infrastructure including:
  • UPS systems
  • Electrical distribution equipment
  • Backup generators
  • Chillers and HVAC systems
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and blueprints.
  • Support safe work practices while following all environmental, health, and safety procedures.
  • Assist with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment as needed.
  • Complete required training and maintain compliance with all site policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and collaborate with fellow technicians when appropriate.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will bring prior data center experience supporting mechanical and electrical infrastructure, along with solid technical knowledge, strong attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively in a high-availability environment where uptime is critical., * Completion of a Trade School program required.

  • Approximately 4-5 years of experience in data center operations, critical facilities, or mission-critical environments.
  • Previous experience supporting mechanical and electrical operations within a data center is required.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Experience performing equipment inspections, rounds, and preventive maintenance.
  • Experience managing work orders within a CMMS platform.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic knowledge of applications such as Azure and Power BI is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn in a collaborative environment.
  • Flexibility to support scheduled work outside normal routines when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Electrician or HVAC Technician certification.
  • Experience supporting UPS systems, generators, HVAC equipment, electrical distribution systems, or Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Experience creating or maintaining SOPs, risk assessments, and operational documentation.
  • Multi-skilled experience across both HVAC and electrical systems.
  • Experience mentoring or sharing technical knowledge with other technicians.
