Job description

The Website Coordinator will manage The City of Pearland websites, including contributing to design, user experience, creating, organizing, editing, maintaining, and posting content to the site. The successful candidate will also have excellent writing skills and be able to respond effectively to service requests from City departments.

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Develops and places new website content.
  • Performs routine maintenance and management of the City’s website; posts public meeting agendas and minutes, press releases, and calendar items; edits and creates new pages as necessary. Ensures digital content is written and optimized for SEO, accessibility, readability, and the voice of the City of Pearland.
  • Trains content users on how to update and manage departmental content in the CMS.
  • Creates accessible content and fulfills other accessibility/digital equity requests.
  • Evaluates and ensures that all city websites maintain a unified design and organization through branding and consistency and are all in compliance with website governance.
  • Manages compliance with digital accessibility, city web standards, and workflow
  • Collaborates proactively with city departments to ensure all web content is relevant and updated.
  • Seeks out, develops, and recommends new ways that web projects and initiatives can promote the city both externally and internally
  • Compiles and analyzes web data.
  • Monitors emerging technological trends.
  • Understands the importance of creating a web presence with user navigability in mind and considers all audiences when designing for the web
  • Ensures that the City of Pearland’s websites communicate the strategic goals of the organizations
  • Develops and provides training related to web duties as necessary, including management of website governance documents.
  • Establishes and maintains a website permissions model to ensure CMS users have the appropriate access.
  • Understands, sustains, and educates others about web code security best practices.
  • Manages web tracking implementations to meet the city’s privacy standards.
  • Assists in developing ways to effectively manage all archived web content.
  • Work Flexible hours; some evening and/or weekend work required.
  • Perform other related work as required.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of four years of college in communications, graphic design, marketing, or closely related field.
  • Requires one to three years of communications, graphic design, marketing, or closely related experience.
  • Valid, Class C Texas Driver’s License, required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
