Job description

Design and deliver secure, scalable software for financial projection workflows used by analysts and business stakeholders.

  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack capabilities across web applications, backend services, data services, database assets, and deployment configurations
  • Build user-facing workflows for Ratings analytical applications
  • Develop and enhance backend services using Java, Spring Boot, GraphQL, REST APIs, reactive programming, caching, messaging, and secure integration patterns
  • Build and maintain front-end functionality using Angular, TypeScript, reactive programming, enterprise design standards, data grids, spreadsheet components, and Excel-compatible workflows
  • Own technical delivery from design through production release, including implementation, testing, code review, documentation, deployment readiness, and post-release support
  • Improve reliability, performance, observability, and maintainability by analyzing production behavior, resolving defects, improving test coverage, and addressing technical debt
  • Collaborate independently with product owners, analysts, quality engineers, architects, platform teams, and other engineers while mentoring team members and influencing engineering practices

About the Team Our Analytical Tools team is responsible for building scalable applications and APIs to support Moody’s Ratings process. The team focuses on delivering critical financial analytical tools, AI-driven applications, and driving platform modernization through strong engineering practices, and an AI-first mindset, contributing directly to the Moody’s core business and technology strategy.

Requirements

  • Strong experience designing and building enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, GraphQL APIs, and reactive programming patterns
  • Preferred experience with modern front-end development using Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, reusable component design, forms, data grids, and spreadsheet-style user experiences
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases, SQL, PostgreSQL, schema design, data modeling, migrations, and data-access patterns for business-critical applications
  • Experience integrating distributed systems using service APIs, event-driven patterns, caching, secure service-to-service communication, and contract-driven development
  • Working knowledge of cloud-native engineering practices, including containers, Kubernetes, Helm, GitOps, continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, API gateways, and environment configuration
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues using logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, performance analysis, and root-cause investigation across user interface, API, data, and deployment layers
  • Desired experience with scripting or automation languages such as Python, including use cases such as developer tooling, data validation, operational support, test automation, or workflow efficiency
  • Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use, * Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

Benefits & conditions

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $116,500.00 - $169,000.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for a completion bonus. Moody’s also offers insurance and a discounted employee stock purchase plan for limited duration employees.
