Senior / Staff Backend Engineer, Data Platform

We’re partnering with a high-growth technology company building large-scale, cloud-native data infrastructure powering real-time products and internal platforms used across the business.

This is not a traditional analytics or BI-focused data engineering role.

The team is looking for backend engineers who have built distributed systems around high-volume data ingestion, streaming, telemetry, and scalable APIs in production environments.

What You’ll Work On

• Build and scale distributed backend systems handling real-time and near real-time data
• Design ingestion frameworks and event-driven architectures processing large-scale telemetry and platform data
• Develop APIs and backend services that expose data to product and engineering teams
• Improve reliability, latency, observability, and scalability across critical platform infrastructure
• Partner closely with product, infrastructure, and data platform teams on 0*1 initiatives
• Contribute to cloud-native architecture and platform modernization efforts

Do you have experience in Scalable systems?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * 8+ years of software engineering experience

• Strong backend engineering fundamentals with experience in distributed systems
• Experience building real-time ingestion or streaming systems in production
• Hands-on coding experience in Java, Python, or Node.js
• Experience with Kafka, Pub/Sub, Kinesis, or similar event streaming technologies
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred, AWS also relevant)
• Experience building APIs, backend services, or platform infrastructure at scale
• Strong ownership mentality and ability to drive projects end-to-end
• Experience working in product-driven or customer-facing environments

Nice to Have

• IoT, telemetry, mobility, fintech, infrastructure, or large-scale consumer product experience
• Experience with Kubernetes, microservices, or event-driven systems
• Exposure to ML infrastructure, classification systems, or high-throughput data platforms

Compensation: Expected base salary range is $150K-$215K, though final leveling and compensation will depend on experience, technical depth, and location. Total compensation may include bonus, equity/RSUs, and additional benefits.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $215,000.00 per year, * 401(k)
