Sr Backend Engineer, Data Platform

We’re partnering with a high-growth technology company building large-scale, cloud-native data infrastructure that powers real-time products and mission-critical internal platforms.

This is a backend engineering role focused on distributed systems, data movement, streaming infrastructure, and platform services.

This is not a traditional Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, BI, Reporting, or Dashboard-focused position.

We’re looking for engineers who have built production systems around real-time data ingestion, telemetry, event streaming, scalable APIs, and distributed backend services.

What You’ll Do

• Build and scale distributed backend systems handling real-time and near real-time data
• Design and develop ingestion frameworks and event-driven architectures processing high-volume platform and telemetry data
• Build APIs and backend services that expose critical data to product and engineering teams
• Improve reliability, latency, observability, and scalability across core platform infrastructure
• Partner closely with product, infrastructure, and platform engineering teams on 0*1 initiatives
• Contribute to cloud-native architecture, platform modernization, and operational excellence efforts
• Drive projects end-to-end from design through production deployment and ongoing ownership, * Business Intelligence (BI)
• Dashboard Development
• Reporting & Visualization
• Analytics Engineering
• SQL-heavy Reporting Roles
• Traditional ETL Development without significant backend engineering experience

Do you have experience in Web services design?, * 8+ years of software engineering experience

• Strong backend engineering and distributed systems fundamentals
• Experience building and operating real-time or near-real-time ingestion systems in production
• Hands-on development experience in Java, Python, or Node.js
• Experience with Kafka, Pub/Sub, Kinesis, or similar event-streaming technologies
• Experience designing and building scalable APIs, backend services, or platform infrastructure
• Experience with cloud environments such as GCP or AWS
• Strong ownership mentality and ability to independently drive technical initiatives
• Experience working on customer-facing products or large-scale internal platforms

Preferred Experience

• Telemetry, IoT, mobility, logistics, fintech, infrastructure, cybersecurity, or large-scale consumer products
• Kubernetes and microservices-based architectures
• High-throughput data platforms and event-driven systems
• Streaming platforms, operational analytics, classification systems, or ML infrastructure
• Experience at organizations known for engineering scale and operational excellence
