Job description

  • Design, build, and maintain features across the stack: .NET / C# APIs, Angular / TypeScript front ends, SQL Server, Azure services, and related integrations.

  • Work on mission-critical Spark modules such as pricing, itinerary building, proposals, supplier workflows, automations, client portals, and operational tooling.

  • Contribute to selected long-standing Webigence client projects where needed, including mature business-critical systems outside Spark.

  • Investigate and diagnose issues properly across browser, API, application logs, Azure services, and database layers.

  • Write clean, maintainable, tested code that can be understood and supported by the wider team.

  • Work closely with Product, Design, QA, Customer Success, and other developers to turn complex requirements into intuitive software.

  • Contribute to technical discussions, challenge assumptions constructively, and help improve how we build and release software.

  • Use modern tooling sensibly, including CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions, Azure monitoring/logging tools, and AI-assisted development tools where appropriate.

  • Be comfortable working in a remote-first team where clear written communication, ownership, and self-direction matter.

Requirements

  • You have 6+ years of commercial software development experience, with strong hands-on C# / .NET experience.

  • You have built and supported modern web applications, ideally with Angular / TypeScript or another major JavaScript framework.

  • You are comfortable working across APIs, front-end code, data access, integrations, and production troubleshooting.

  • You can reason through a problem end-to-end: browser behaviour, API payloads, application logs, backend logic, Azure services, external integrations, and database state.

  • You understand good engineering principles, but you are pragmatic rather than dogmatic.

  • You can explain technical decisions clearly, including trade-offs, risks, and alternatives.

  • You care about usability and product quality, not just whether the code technically works.

  • You are happy being a hands-on individual contributor, while still supporting and improving the wider engineering team.

  • You have hands-on experience working with Azure, and ideally some experience configuring, managing, or troubleshooting Azure resources.

  • You understand that seniority means ownership, judgement, communication, and follow-through - not just years of experience.

A 1st-class or 2:1 degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline is preferred.

What We’re Looking For Technically

We are especially interested in developers who can show strength in several of the following areas:

  • C# / .NET 8+

  • Web API

  • Angular / TypeScript

  • SQL Server

  • Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Storage, Key Vault, Application Insights, or related Azure services

  • Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes

  • API integrations and webhook-based workflows

  • Automated testing and practical test strategy

  • Logging, monitoring, and production diagnostics

  • SaaS product development

  • Complex business workflows, pricing engines, rules engines, or operational systems

You do not need to be an expert in everything, but you do need to be genuinely hands-on and keen to keep improving. Azure experience is strongly preferred, especially where you have worked beyond simply deploying code and have been involved in configuring, diagnosing, or improving cloud-hosted systems.

Benefits & conditions

  • Competitive salary, aligned to experience and impact

  • EMI equity options in Spark Travel

  • Remote-first culture with asynchronous workflows

  • Private healthcare

  • Employer pension contributions above statutory minimums

  • Home-office setup support

  • Coworking space allowance where useful

  • Flexible hours with sensible core overlap

  • Professional-development budget

  • Conference and certification leave

  • Choose-your-own-tech toolkit where appropriate

  • Travel-to-London expenses for required in-person meetings

  • A collaborative, low-ego, product-focused company culture

  • The chance to help shape a SaaS product with genuine international growth potential

About the company

About Webigence and Spark Travel

Webigence has 25+ years of experience crafting UX-first, often highly complex software. Our engineers pair pragmatic, forward-thinking development practices with an obsession for intuitive design, shipping products that feel effortless even when the logic underneath is anything but.

Alongside a handful of long-standing third-party clients, we’re scaling our own SaaS product, Spark Travel, at pace. You’ll join a smart, collaborative, senior-led team that cares about clear thinking, sensible architecture, and building software that stands up in the real world.

Spark Travel is on a mission to drag the tailor-made travel industry into the 21st century. Our cloud-native platform brings together sales, itinerary building, supplier contracting, dynamic pricing, client proposals, payments, and on-trip operations - everything from the first enquiry to the traveller’s safe return.

The market is huge, the incumbents are slow, and we already have meaningful traction: around 40 customers, an accelerating sign-up pace, a very healthy sales pipeline, and a roadmap full of genuinely valuable product developments. We’re already trusted by ambitious tailor-made tour operators and DMCs, and we’re still only scratching the surface of what Spark can become.

We’re product-led, customer-led, and deliberately pragmatic. We use AI and newer technologies where they clearly solve real problems, but we’re not chasing hype. Our priority is building a robust, elegant SaaS platform that helps travel professionals do complex work faster, better, and with more confidence.

We’re now looking for a down-to-earth, conscientious, hands-on Senior Software Developer to help us build the next stage of Spark and support selected long-standing Webigence client systems.

Your Impact

Raise the bar sensibly. Set high standards without over-engineering, and help us make good technical decisions that balance speed, quality, maintainability, and commercial reality.

Build software that matters. Your work will directly improve how high-end travel companies sell, price, operate, and deliver complex tailor-made trips.

Own the craft. Understand the problem, ask good questions, ship the solution, diagnose issues properly, and improve what already works.

Work across the stack. You’ll contribute to .NET APIs, Angular front ends, SQL Server-backed workflows, Azure-hosted services, integrations, automations, and customer-facing product features.

Help us scale confidently. As Spark grows, you’ll help us strengthen the platform, improve reliability, support more automation, and build functionality that can serve hundreds and then thousands of customers., Spark Travel is an equal-opportunity employer and a welcoming neurodiverse team. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all. We’re not just saying that - we really mean it.
