Job description

We are recruiting a part-time IT Administrator to work 20 hours per week, responsible for providing front-line technical support to external users, including customers, partners, and third-party users of company-supported systems and solutions. This includes supporting business-critical applications, point-of-sale or operational systems, software, and user accounts, with a focus on IT asset management, data accuracy, and audit assurance.

The role supports internal teams, external users, and IT management by maintaining accurate asset records, coordinating and conducting regular IT asset audits, and ensuring that findings, discrepancies, and risks are clearly documented and reported., The main duties of the IT Administrator are listed below. It is the nature of the role that each activity will have its own range of demands, which the post holder will be expected to meet.

IT Asset Management and Audit

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the IT asset management system

  • Administer the full lifecycle of IT assets, including onboarding, allocation, transfer, return, and disposal

  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct multiple IT asset audits throughout the year across supported business areas

  • Perform physical and system-based audits to verify asset location, ownership, condition, and compliance

  • Identify discrepancies, risks, and gaps within asset records or asset-related processes

  • Produce clear, structured audit findings and reports for IT Management, including recommendations and actions

  • Support continuous improvement of asset management processes, controls, and documentation

Service Desk and Technical Support Responsibilities

  • Act as a frontline point of contact for users reporting IT incidents and service requests via approved channels

  • Provide first-call resolution where possible, using documented procedures, knowledge articles, and best practices

  • Log, categorise, prioritise, and manage incidents and service requests accurately within the ticketing system

  • Take ownership of assigned tickets through to resolution, or escalate appropriately in line with agreed escalation paths

  • Work in line with defined SLA thresholds and service expectations

  • Maintain clear, professional communication with users, providing regular updates on progress and resolution

  • Provide hardware, software, and basic systems support within the agreed scope, including configuration and troubleshooting

  • Accurately document actions taken, outcomes, and troubleshooting steps to support effective escalation and knowledge sharing

Operational and Administrative Support

  • Support internal teams and external users with administrative IT requests in line with documented procedures

  • Assist with user account administration and access requests in accordance with approval and governance processes

  • Conduct onboarding and leaver activities, including equipment preparation, access changes, and asset updates

  • Help maintain active role documents that document all required hardware, software and access for each role within the organisation.

  • Work collaboratively with Technical Support Agents, Service Desk Supervisors, and wider IT teams to ensure smooth service delivery

  • Assist the Service Desk Supervisor and/or IT Manager with departmental initiatives, audits, and operational tasks where required

Professional Conduct

  • Demonstrate a high level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail

  • Manage administrative duties in a structured and methodical manner

  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing

  • Maintain confidentiality, tact, and discretion at all times

  • Use initiative appropriately within defined responsibilities

Requirements

Skills and Technical Ability

Essential

  • Experience or strong understanding of IT administration, asset management, or inventory control

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to plan, organise, and execute audits or structured review activities

  • Confident use of IT systems, databases, and documentation tools

  • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a part-time role

  • Strong awareness of confidentiality, governance, and data accuracy

Desirable

  • Previous experience working with IT asset management systems

  • Exposure to IT service desk or technical support environments

  • Awareness of ITIL principles or IT governance frameworks

  • Familiarity with end-user hardware, operating systems, and mobile devices
