Test Engineer Protection and Control

The Test Engineer P&C 1 is responsible for commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting substation integration and SCADA equipment within the Protection & Control Field Services Substation Integration & Automation group. This role involves planning and executing projects safely, efficiently, and accurately, primarily working on-site and in the field. The position requires 0-5 years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Responsibilities:

• Commission and test substation integration and SCADA equipment.
• Troubleshoot substation systems and equipment issues.
• Plan and complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Perform power system calculations and measurements.
• Work primarily on-site and in the field.

• Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Experience or training in commissioning and testing substation SCADA equipment.
• Knowledge of safe work practices in substation or industrial environments.
• Ability to use electrical testing tools such as multimeters and hand tools.
• Basic understanding of AC & DC electrical systems.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience or training in microprocessor (IED) technology.
• Experience with serial and ethernet network communications.
• Knowledge of substation relay protection and control equipment.
• Familiarity with industrial control systems including PLCs and generation plant controls.
• Proficiency in computer productivity tools such as spreadsheets.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
