Job description

  • Develop, modify and configure simulation software using C++
  • Work on locomotive simulation applications involving route force analysis and train dynamics
  • Troubleshoot and debug software using Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Support software installation, integration testing, validation and deployment activities
  • Work closely with hardware, manufacturing, engineering and client-facing teams
  • Support platform maintenance, software updates and technology upgrades
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians supporting project work

Requirements

This role is ideal for a C++ developer with strong Microsoft Visual Studio experience who enjoys working on high-performance, calculation-heavy software applications.

This position supports real-time train simulation software used to model locomotive performance and route-based forces. The ideal candidate will have experience developing, troubleshooting and improving C++ applications involving engineering math, simulation, system performance and hands-on hardware integration.

This is an onsite role and candidates must be local or regional to the Jacksonville, FL area. Occasional remote flexibility may be available for appointments, but this is not a remote or hybrid-first position., * 3+ years of professional C++ development experience using Microsoft Visual Studio

  • Experience developing high-performance applications using multithreaded execution
  • Working knowledge of MFC libraries
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • 2+ years of technical engineering experience coding in C++
  • Experience supporting software architecture projects from planning through execution
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging and object-oriented programming skills
  • Ability to support hands-on hardware integration testing and troubleshooting
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to work onsite in the Jacksonville, FL area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Real-time C++ development experience
  • Simulation software or modeling experience
  • Engineering math familiarity including force, acceleration, friction, inertia, momentum, work and power
  • Qt UI experience
  • Python, SQL, VBA, PHP, JavaScript, Perl or batch scripting experience
  • REST API or webservice integration knowledge
  • GIS data experience
  • Azure cloud development or deployment experience
  • AI, Machine Learning or Big Data exposure
  • Trello or Kanban experience
  • Railway, transportation or locomotive simulation experience
  • French language skills are a plus, * This is not an embedded software role. Is most of your recent C++ experience in application/software development rather than embedded systems?

  • Have you done any software work involving force, mass, acceleration, friction, inertia, momentum, power or similar calculations?

  • Have you been submitted to any simulation, transportation, railway or similar software companies in the Jacksonville area?
  • Are you a US Citizen or Permanent Resident?
